Hours following Hamas’ attack on southern Israel on October 7, 2023, Israel began airstrikes on the Gaza Strip. Just 20 days later, Israel began its destructive ground invasion. The war on Gaza has continued a year on, producing one of the most devastating humanitarian crises, requiring almost two million residents to flee constant bombardment. While Hamas' attack killed around 1,200 people and took about 250 individuals hostage, Israel's military response has killed more than 42,000 Palestinians.
